Over the long weekend, I decided to make myself a cheap light tent per these directions. It actually turned out pretty well. Some of the results: One 18x18x18 cardboard box: $4.50 Three white poster boards: $3 One glue stick: $2 Two yards of white fabric: $8 One adjustable desk lamp: $10 One day light bulb: [...]

  • Satisfaction of not only completing a DIY project but also making it work: Priceless

An Exciting Career Awaits You in Cigarette Packing

We visited Duke Homestead today. It was the home of Washington Duke, who built the Dukes’ tobacco empire. There is a museum on the premises that focuses on the history of the tobacco industry. It included exhibits that used mannequins to recreate scenes from the cigarette-making process. This one below captured my attention in particular. [...]

We visited Duke Homestead today. It was the home of Washington Duke, who built the Dukes’ tobacco empire. There is a museum on the premises that focuses on the history of the tobacco industry. It included exhibits that used mannequins to recreate scenes from the cigarette-making process. This one below captured my attention in particular. The expression on the woman mannequin’s face is so ironically droll and depressing.
