Framed Gibbon

May 8th, 2011 Permalink

One of my favorite photos from our recent Baltimore/Washington, D.C. trip. We had never had much luck getting a good look at gibbons in zoos, much less take good photos of them, but this female gibbon at the National Zoo in D.C. was very cooperative and held this pose for quite a while.

Nori the Baby Chimp

April 5th, 2011 Permalink

One of the new stars of the North Carolina Zoo is Nori, an eight-month-old chimpanzee. We saw her for all of 45 seconds on our visit Saturday as her mom carried her across the exhibit before disappearing over a ridge. I managed to snap a few pictures, and this was the only one where Nori was facing the camera.
