Butterfly with A Camera Phone

May 29th, 2013 Permalink

Wow! It’s been how long since I last posted here? Well, a grueling last semester of grad school and a newborn will do that. Hopefully I’ll get to post more regularly again, and not have all the pictures be of my daughter. Here’s a shot of a butterfly from the Museum of Life and Science in Durham, NC. The quality is surprisingly good, considering it was shot with a free smartphone. The butterfly cooperated by being very, very still even as I got up close.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. Blame it on school. But I did find time for a few shots over Thanksgiving while visiting the in-laws. Here’s one from a set I took of my 2-year-old nephew chomping down on bacon.

Flight from Alcatraz

One of the unexpected treats of our recent trip to San Francisco was how photogenic Alcatraz proved to be. The Rock provided plenty of elevated vantage points from which to photograph seagulls in flight with the city as a gorgeous backdrop. Here’s one of my better shots from the batch.
